Students of the Pine Forest Middle School Student Council visited the North Carolina State Veterans Nursing Home on February 14, giving both themselves and the residents there a most memorable Valentine’s Day! The students eagerly distributed goodie bags, graciously donated by Dr. Samuel Bright, loaded with dental care products. The gifts brought smiles all around! While visiting with our veterans, the students played bingo bringing a smile to the faces of many of the participants. This ongoing partnership between our students and the veterans being served provides an amazing and inspirational experience for our students. This field trip is one to which the students anxiously look forward each year. Our students get to visit and share with our veterans four times each year. Each time they gain a greater understanding of some of the sacrifices made by our service members in defense of this great nation we call the United States of America.
Pine Forest Middle was scheduled to be the Cool School of the Day on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 by Bill Reh at NBC17.  Originally Published April 1, 2013
